Four no-carve pumpkin decor ideas for fall

Every year I have the same conundrum. I want to decorate for autumn but I don’t know what to do.

With Thanksgiving and Halloween in close conjunction, I’m thinking decorating twice is too much to ask. Maybe, just maybe, I can figure out a way to decorate for both occasions pumpkins.

After some searching I’ve discovered four no-carve pumpkin decor ideas for fall that even I can handle. No messy pumpkin innards, no trouble with knives, just simple, fun decorations.

Push pin pumpkins

This tutorial courtesy of A Subtle Revelry is as simple as it sounds. You need some pumpkins (real or fake, so long as you can push pins into the surface) and some push pins. Decorate in whatever pattern you see fit.

Metallic pumpkins

Thanks to Real Simple for this great idea. Not only does metallic spray paint add bling to your home decor but it’s so easy. There’s no tutorial but basic instructions to follow are to set up in a well-ventilated area (outdoors is best). Use drop cloths to avoid paint in unwanted areas and spray the pumpkins in coats. Allow each coat to dry (according to the spray paint’s instructions) before adding the next.

Glitter-streaked pumpkins

There are lots of glitter-pumpkin tutorials but I chose this one from Madigan Made because it seems impossible to mess up.

You’ll need glitter (the more the better) and glue. The classic choice here is Mod Podge because it dries quick and clear. Once your pumpkins are clean, alternate glue and glitter until you reach your desired effect. You can also use a rag or paint brushes to smudge the glitter for a streaky look.

Crayon melt pumpkins

This project from Budget Savvy Diva is what attracted me to the no-carve pumpkin decor idea in the first place. The colours are so vibrant, the pumpkin so white…I love it!

Again, you can use real or fake pumpkins and if you can’t find a white one you can always paint it. Then you follow the simple instructions to affix the wax crayons to the pumpkin and melt them either one by one or in batches.

I hope these four no-carve pumpkin decor ideas for fall have inspired you to try something new! I know this will keep me busy for a few days.
