UsedEverywhere.com Helps Local House Fire Victims on Kwakiutl First Nations Reserve. UsedEverywhere.com is Collecting Furniture from its Online Classified Sites to Deliver to a Fort Rupert Family who Lost Everything in a March House Fire

Victoria, BC – April 24, 2012

As part of its ‘Community Angel’ program, UsedEverywhere.com is gathering and delivering furniture to replace everything that was lost during a house fire that destroyed the home of Paula and Thomas Wilson on the Kwakiutl Reserve in Fort Rupert.

The fire, which Paula Wilson woke up to at 3am on March 21st, started in the basement and quickly spread throughout the home. There were 5 people in the home that night, including Paula and Thomas Wilson, their daughter and son and their daughter’s boyfriend. After escaping the burning house, Thomas Wilson crawled back into the home and spotted Paula’s cell phone light. Paula had been trying to find her daughter, Selena and had almost given up.

“I could hear Selena yelling ‘“I can’t breathe!’”, but couldn’t find her anywhere because of the thick, black smoke,”, said Paula Wilson.

Thomas saved Selena by pulling her by her legs down the stairs and outside to safety and then returned to save Paula. Everyone made it out alive, except the family dog Honey.

“With the help of our Vancouver Island ‘community angel’, Dan Peirce, the staff at UsedEverywhere.com is finding items from the ‘Free’ section of our Vancouver Island online classified sites and driving them up to the Wilson’s in Fort Rupert,” says Erin Richards, Marketing Director of UsedEverywhere.com. “We hope that this gesture will be a morale boost for the Wilson’s, by knowing the Vancouver Island community supports them. We are looking forward to helping this family build their new home”.

UsedEverywhere.com is encouraging all of its users to post furniture items in the ‘Free’ sections of their local Vancouver Island site. They can help by including the hashtag #WilsonSupport in their ad description, which will designate their items as donations to the cause. UsedEverywhere.com will do its best to reply to all posts and arrange pickups for these items.
